Fix CD/DVD Scratches without Flossing

March 5th, 2009

That scratched up old Windows XP CD not reading like it used to? Tried cleaning it, huffing on it, and cleaning it some more to no avail? The next time you have to downgrade from Vista, a little polishing with toothpaste might get that CD reading again. With a lint-free cloth rub some in outward streaks and polish those scratches right out. As for the bugs in Windows, you’re on your own.

UPDATE: A reader sent me this excellent link analyzing different CD/DVD repair substances. Seems like 2 out of 3 dentists have been wrong all along. Brasso is the way to go. Thanks Jay!
