Bare Minimum Personal Information Security

June 12th, 2009

Imagine someone steals your laptop/desktop/cell phone. Chances are you have a lot of personal information on there. Make invading your privacy as much of a pain as possible; at very least by setting up a login password when you start up the device. More devices are encouraging this nowadays, but there’s still a bunch of unsecured units out there. Yes, there are ways to circumvent the password and access the files nevertheless, but it’s fair to assume the person who stole your laptop would sooner pawn it than figure out how to boot into a command prompt. Unless it’s Bill Gates who steals your computer, but he’s not exactly hard up for cash.
